Buhoma gorilla trekking sector is one of the sectors of Bwindi impenetrable national park which is located in south western park of Uganda, the sector is found in the northern region of the park in kanungu district. Buhoma gorilla trekking sector is the most visited gorilla trekking sector in park hosting many endangered mountain gorillas which are the most sought for animals in the world, this sector offers amazing gorilla trekking experience to visitors visiting Uganda and Bwindi impenetrable national park for a safari.

Buhoma sector is an outstanding gorilla trekking sector for mountain gorilla trekking in Bwindi impenetrable national park with 3 mountain gorilla families including the first habituated and trekked gorilla family in Uganda and Bwindi impenetrable national park that is Mubare gorilla family. All of the three gorilla families found in buhoma gorilla trekking sector are amazing to trek and safe for tourists as all it mountain gorillas successfully under went through habituation process, the habituation process is respond for taming mountain gorillas from being wild gorillas to friendly mountain gorillas comfortable with the presence of human beings.

Mubare gorilla family
Mubare gorilla family is the first mountain gorilla family to be habituated in Bwindi impenetrable national park and buhoma gorilla trekking sector, the family under went through a process of habituation for approximately 2 years and by 1991 the family was fully habituated. Mubare gorilla family is also the first trekked mountain gorilla family in both Bwindi impenetrable national park and buhoma gorilla trekking sector receiving its first visitors in 1993. Members of Mubare gorilla family were first sighted at around Mubare hills from which it gets its name, initially the group had twelve family members under the leadership of Ruhondeza a silver. Unfortunately after his death the park was only left with 5 members, currently the family has only 9 members, this family is one of the easiest families to trek in buhoma trekking sector and also referred to as M-group.
Habinyanja gorilla family
Habinyanja gorilla family is also among the first habituated gorilla families in Bwindi impenetrable national park habituated in 1997, the group is also referred to as H-group and it first received its first trekker in 1999. Habinyanja gorilla family consists of 18 family members with 2 silverbacks, members off this family were first sighted around the swamp in the park thus the name Habinyanja from a local word Nyaja meaning a place with water.
Rushegura gorilla family
Rushegura gorilla family is one of the big gorilla families in buhoma gorilla trekking sector with 21 family members that is 1 silverback, 1 blackback, 5 adult females, 2 sub adults, 6 juveniles and 6 infants. Habinyanja gorilla family was successfully habituated by the end of 200 and received its first trekker in 2002, this family consists of some members who split from Habinyanja family. Rushegura gorilla family is known to for being one of the calmest families in Bwindi impenetrable national park, it is easily trekked in the Vicinity of buhoma village.
